US Weapons Operator Familiarization Length: 5-Days This course is a special familiarization and operator course designed to ensure that the attendee has a thorough understanding of some common US weapons. The course can be tailored to theater or to special needs of the attendees. The general course is as follows and day and time of covering which firearms will be adjusted according to the needs of the class: Day 1: M16/M4/M203 M16/M4 Series- The Black Rifle, probably the most popular rifle in the US has been around for over forty years and has evolved through countless modifications. Students begin with field stripping, lubrication procedures and the proper cleaning requirements for different environments. Armorer Level disassembly, inspection and maintenance requirements, and function checks are covered in depth. Reassembly of the weapon and full gaging techniques ensure the student has a complete and thorough understanding of the weapon system. M203- The M203 40mm Grenade Launcher is truly a clever design. This class provides an overview of the history and development of the system, moves into identification of the components of the system, and then practical “hands on” training. Students begin with field stripping, proper lubrication procedures and the correct cleaning requirements for various environments. Armorer Level disassembly, inspection and maintenance requirements, and function checks are covered in depth. Reassembly of the weapons and full gaging techniques ensure the student has a complete and thorough understanding of the weapon system. M249- This portion of the course covers the DS/GS level disassembly and reassembly of the M249 machine gun and all of its variants including the Minimi. Topics covered include history of the system, parts description, loading and unloading procedures, and tools and gages used for Armorer level inspection and repair. The technical specifications, functions checks, and requirements of the system will be covered. The safety and warning precautions for the weapon system will be stressed heavily. Topics are not limited to these and will often move to the class participants questions. M9- This portion of the course covers the DS/GS level disassembly and reassembly of the Beretta M9 pistol. Topics covered include history of the system, parts description, loading and unloading procedures, tools and gages used for Armorer level inspection and repair. The technical specifications, functions checks, and requirements of the system will be covered. The safety and warning precautions for the weapon system will be stressed heavily. Topics are not limited to these and will often move to the class participants questions. M240- The M240 portion of the course covers the DS/GS level disassembly and reassembly of the M240 machine gun and all of its variants including the MAG-58 and L7 Series GPMG. Israeli, Indian, and US variants are discussed. Topics covered include history of the system, parts description, loading and unloading procedures, aiming procedures, and tools and gages used for Armorer level inspection and repair. The technical specifications, functions checks, and requirements of the system will be covered. The safety and warning precautions for the weapon system will be stressed heavily. M2HB- “Ma Deuce”. This weapon system has been in US service longer then any other machine gun, and is still a favorite of many soldiers. The M2HB is big, heavy and very effective. The class begins with a goal overview for students and then quickly moves into the history of the M2HB, identification of the components of the system, and then into practical “hands on” training. Students start with field stripping, proper lubrication procedures and then cleaning requirements and methods for various environments. They are trained in operator inspection of the weapon, and once the class is proficient, they are moved into the Armorer Level disassembly, inspection and maintenance of the components. Students then reassemble the guns and perform proper function check, and are taught proper gauging so that they know the condition of the weapons under their control. This class can be fine tuned for the specific needs of the students. |
